The Patriot’s Authority (part 1)

You have the right to stand against the wrongs in society, even if its from the government. You have this authority from our Constitution and from the Bible. Not just the right to resist evil but the mandate from both. There has been some confusion on this issue with the Constitution and Bible being miss represented in our time. Let us take a little time together and see how the two work together.

The Bible talks about the role of governments and what God expects of them, likewise it also defines the responsibilities of citizens. The common verse of the day to define citizen’s role is Romans 13:1-7.  We tend to apply this verse only to citizens, but it also applies to the government. Let’s look at each.

If citizens follow these principles, they will receive approval from the government and God and keep a clear conscience. If they rebel and do evil, then they will receive the sword from government and judgement from God.

These verses in Romans assume the government will obey God. But what happens when it doesn’t? What is the consequence when the government causes terror on the good and rewards evil?
